Generally, Poker is played with a standard deck of cards (usually 52 cards) and a group of players around a table. The goal is to win the pot by having the highest-ranking hand of cards. Depending on the game, there are multiple ways to win. Players may bluff, or they may bet that they have the best hand. The highest-ranking hand is called the pot, and the winning player takes all the bets.<\/p>\n
The cards are shuffled and dealt clockwise around the table. One player is designated to be the initial dealer. The dealer button, also called a buck, is a white plastic disk on the table. This determines who is allowed to shuffle and deal the cards.<\/p>\n
The cards are then discarded and another round of betting occurs. In this round, each player will bet a certain amount into the pot. This round will continue until all but one player has folded. When all players have folded, the winner is the player who has the highest-ranking hand.<\/p>\n
A hand of five cards is considered the highest-ranking hand. It can be a combination of five cards from the player’s hand and cards from the community deck. When there is a tie, the high card is used to break the tie. When there is a tie with two identical hands, a second pair is used to break the tie. The higher pair wins the tie.<\/p>\n
